SCE BRINGS ROSE PARADE FLOAT TO CYBERSPACE; OFFERS ON-LINE CONTEST TO WIN PARADE TICKETS
The "Virtual Float Page," created by Edison employee Dave Stewart, includes up-to-date drawings and photographs of Edison's float entry as it is being built by employee volunteers. In keeping with the Rose Parade theme, "Kid's Laughter & Dreams," the float features characters from the PBS children's television series, "The Puzzle Place," headed to their first birthday party via their own fleet of all- electric vehicles.
"We're driving our float right down the information superhighway," Stewart said. Of course, he added, it will make its scheduled appearance down Pasadena's Colorado Boulevard on New Year's Day.
An interesting web site for both kids and adults, Edison's float page includes information on float building and the characters from "The Puzzle Place." Net surfers can also enter an on-line contest to win pairs of tickets to see the Rose Parade in person by accessing Edison's web site. (Entries must be received by midnight December 25.)
Additional information about the Rose Parade from the Tournament of Roses and the City of Pasadena is linked to Edison's homepage. This year Edison's web site was rated in the "Top 5% of all Web Sites" by Point Communications. The Edison homepage also features informative tips and information about energy efficiency for business and residential customers, as well as a corporate profile and financial data about the company.
