SCDM Board Launches 2007 Agenda.

MILWAUKEE -- The Society for Clinical Data Management (SCDM) launched its 2007 agenda and welcomed its newly elected board members in Boulder, CO last week.

Announced 2007 SCDM plans include extending the global reach of the Certified Clinical Data Manager (CCDM) program, updates to the Good Clinical Data Management Practices (GCDMP) document and expanding the Society's popular Webinar series.

"Technology and globalization are resulting in fundamental changes in clinical trials. Data Managers are on the front lines of these changes and can positively influence both the evolution and outcomes," said Anthony Costello (VP, Product Development and Data Services, Nextrials, Inc.), 2007 SCDM Board of Trustees Chair "Through expansion of the SCDM community, data manager certification, and documented best practices, SCDM will help its members to participate and succeed in this exciting transformation."

Paul Clarkson, CCDM (Director, Clinical Data Management, Genentech, Inc.), Karen Hicks (Director, Clinical Data Management, Sirion Therapeutics) and Linda Talley (Manager, GCDM Early Phase, Eli Lilly and Company) joined the SCDM Board of Trustees as its newest members, during the Society's annual Board Retreat at the St. Julien Hotel & Spa, January 8-9, 2007.

Jonathan Andrus, CCDM (VP, QA and Clinical Data Management, Phoenix Data Systems) assumed the role of Vice Chair. Pamela Norton (Senior Director, Data Management, PharmaNet, Inc.) accepted the appointed post as Treasurer and Colleen Cox, CCDM (Manager, Data Management, PROMETRIKA, LLC) will serve as Board Secretary for 2007.

Jill Vath (Senior Director, Business and Biometric Operations, Genentech, Inc.) will continue on the Board as immediate Past Chair.

Also continuing on the Board in 2007:

* Mary Foy, CCDM, Clinical Data Specialist III, Clinical Data Integration, Duke Clinical Research Institute

* Derek Perrin, Director, Pfizer Global Research and Development

Board Members serve a three-year term and, with the exception of Treasurer, are elected by the general membership each year. The 2008 Board will be announced at the 2007 SCDM Fall Conference in Chicago, IL, September 16-19, 2007.

Founded in 1994, SCDM has become a premier data management organization with over 2,000 domestic and international members. Membership includes professionals from the biotechnology, medical device, and pharmaceutical industries; and members of the academic, regulatory, and scientific research communities. Third party organizations that support these groups also represent an important sector of the membership.
