SCB Computer Technology Selected by the State of Rhode Island to Operate National Internet Network.

SCB Computer Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:SCBI) today announced that the state of Rhode Island's Department of Administration has awarded SCB's subsidiary, SCB Technology Management Resources (SCB TMR), a contract to oversee the technical operations of a far-reaching Internet network solution to child support collection. Rhode Island is the host and administrator of the network on behalf of several states.

Tom Ruffino, executive vice president of SCB TMR, said, "The Child Support Lien Network (CSLN) relies primarily on Internet use by the insurance industry to match claimants who are about to receive settlements to a secured database of persons who owe past-due child support. If a match occurs, a lien is placed on the settlement. Following due process rules, an amount equal to the delinquent child support is sent to the appropriate state child support agency.

"Rhode Island and SCB jointly developed CSLN after extensive consultation with the insurance industry. Using CSLN, states may realize collections in excess of $1 billion each year based on the number of delinquent child support cases in the country. Since CSLN is not a mandatory program, state child support agencies must individually sign up for CSLN with the state of Rhode Island and determine how many delinquent cases to place on the network. SCB will be reimbursed by Rhode Island on behalf of all CSLN member states for each case that is maintained on the CSLN network."
