Memphis (mĕm`fĭs), ancient city of Egypt, capital of the Old Kingdom (c.3100–c.2258 B.C.), at the apex of the Nile delta and 12 mi (18 km) from Cairo.
, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 19, 1997--SCB Computer Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:NM/SCBI) today announced record revenues and profits for its second quarter and six months ended October 31, 1997.

Net income for the quarter increased 51% to $2.0 million, or $0.18 per share, compared with $1.3 million, or $0.12 per share, for the second quarter ended October 31, 1996. Revenues for second quarter increased 80% to $28.1 million compared with $15.6 million a year ago. All share and per share amounts have been adjusted to reflect the three-for-two stock split effected in September 1997.

For the six months ended October 31, 1997, revenues increased 58% to $49.4 million compared with $31.2 million for the six months ended October 31, 1996. Net income increased 46% to 3.8 million, or $0.33 per share, compared with $2.6 million, or $0.23 per share, for the first six months of fiscal 1997.

These results reflect the effects of the Company's September 1996 combination with Delta Software Systems, Inc. ("Delta Software"), which was accounted for as a pooling of interests Pooling of Interests

Commenting on the results, Ben C. Bryant, Jr., president and chief executive officer, said, "During the second quarter we announced several new and extended contracts with clients that total over $18 million in revenues as well as adding to our client base and expanding work with several Fortune 500 companies. The previously announced contracts reflect some of the opportunities being created from our recent acquisitions. We also continued the roll out of our Pro2000(SM) suite of services, which include our proprietary software tool for the assessment of primarily fourth generation computer languages called ProVision(SM).
