The senior hoped for a scholarship offer from the Trojans and turned in a performance that probably will earn one, with six receptions for 75 yards along with four tackles, a sack and recovered fumble.

``That's the place I want to go, it's my No. 1 choice,'' Stuart said.

All that's been missing is an offer. Stuart did not attend USC's summer football camp, and Friday was his first chance to impress Carroll and assistant coach Ed Orgeron Ed Orgeron (born July 27, 1961) is the head football coach at the University of Mississippi. He was named the 35th head football coach at Mississippi on December 16, 2004. .

Stuart, 6-foot-4 inches and 220 pounds, has been offered scholarships by Arizona State, Fresno State, Washington, Oregon and California.

``Coach Carroll said he'd probably want me to play outside linebacker or strong safety,'' Stuart said. ``Some schools want me to play defensive end, others want me to be a wide receiver.''

USC already has a commitment from Westlake defensive end/tight end Jimmy Miller.

``It was really cool having (Carroll) there,'' Miller said. ``It was probably the most fun I've had playing football.''

Westlake quarterback Rudy Carpenter also is interested in the Trojans. Like Stuart, he's awaiting a scholarship offer.
