SC NOTEBOOK: TROJANS LINEMEN STRUGGLE.

Byline: Scott Wolf Scott Richard Wolf (born June 4, 1968) is an American actor.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts to Steven Wolf and Susan Enowitch, Wolf was raised in West Orange, New Jersey. He graduated in 1986 from West Orange High School.

USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  coach Paul Hackett quickly snuffed out a quarterback controversy during spring practice by making Mike Van Raaphorst the starter. But the Trojans' offensive line has been a far more complex problem to solve.

As USC ended spring drills Saturday, it's apparent the offensive line is in flux. After all, no one expected that sophomore left tackle Brent McCaffrey, who rarely saw the field last season, would be the only lineman to firmly secure a starting spot.

What about junior right guard Travis Claridge Travis Claridge (March 23 1978 – February 28 2006) was an American football offensive lineman in the National Football League. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he played for the Atlanta Falcons between 2000 and 2003 and for the Carolina Panthers in 2004. ? He was expected to be a possible All-American next season.

Hackett only says Claridge has a ``slight edge'' over sophomore Trevor Roberts.

``Quite frankly, I expected more from (Claridge),'' Hackett said. ``He's been OK. I'm not going to rave about him until it's appropriate.''

Hackett said McCaffrey has been the second-biggest surprise of the spring behind freshman linebacker Darryl Knight, the little brother of former Trojan Sammy Knight Sammy D. Knight, Jr. (born September 10, 1975 in Fontana, California) is an American Football player who is a Strong safety for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League. .

But McCaffrey's emergence has hardly settled the other problems that exist on the line. USC could open the season with four lineman who have never started a college game.

``I had hoped to get the offensive line more settled,'' Hackett said. ``Maybe that expectation was too much. It's a major concern, but I don't look at it that way. I don't want to hastily make a decision.''

It hasn't helped that JC transfers Donta Kendrick and Matt Welch both were injured for part of the spring and will expect to compete for starting jobs in the fall.

Pearsall's 100 percent: Strong safety Grant Pearsall missed last season because of knee surgery, but he has been one of the top players this spring.

Pearsall said his knee is completely recovered. ``It never bothered me this spring,'' he said. ``I wanted to come out and make a statement. I haven't really been apprehensive.''

Asked about the differences in spring practices between Hackett and his predecessor, John Robinson Several notable individuals have been named John Robinson: Politicians
  • John Robinson (1650-1723) (1650-1723), English diplomat; later Bishop of Bristol from 1710 and Lord Privy Seal from 1711-1713
, Pearsall said: ``It's been a lot more teaching and learning. There were longer practices. We learned a lot this spring.''

Final assessment: Hackett ended spring practice more impressed with his team's spirit than ability.

``The talent is not quite what I thought it would be,'' he said. ``When I said we were a middle-of-the-road team, I was hoping we'd be more than that. The thing that has me excited about the team is that we're more than I thought we'd be from an enthusiasm and work ethic work ethic
