The Safety/Risk Management application and SECCLEAR SECCLEAR Security Clearance , the Security Clearance application, have passed an early iteration of the Systems Qualification Test, as well as an early iteration of the Operational Assessment Test. The two applications are considered central to the SBIS program, which supports soldiers both on the base and in the field. The Systems Qualification Test precedes Operational Testing (testing) operational testing - A US DoD term for testing performed by the end-user on software in its normal operating environment. and is the final government test before turning the system over to independent testers and end users for final acceptance testing (programming) acceptance testing - Formal testing conducted to determine whether a system satisfies its acceptance criteria and thus whether the customer should accept the system. . The Operational Test involves independent assessment of the current application capabilities by the users and independent testing community. The safety application has been installed and is in use at Fort Gordon, Ga. John Houpt, functional administrator for the safety application at Fort Gordon, is pleased with the results. "We went through 80 to 100 scenarios that went very smoothly even for those people who are not computer professionals or what we call `common users,'" he said. The safety application is designed to assess possible risks and establish controls during missions and contains a range of tactical risk management and hazard identification tools. In addition to deployment at Fort Gordon, the application will initially be integrated into systems at pilot sites including Fort Huachuca, Ariz.; Forts Eustis and Monroe, Va.; and Fort McPherson, Ga. The security application automates personnel security procedures and links information regarding security investigations, clearance and eligibility requirements.
