2001 Crossover Contract Modification Enables SBC (1) (SBC Communications Inc., San Antonio, TX, www.sbc.com) A large, national telecommunications company that grew from a multitude of local and regional companies, including Southwestern Bell, Pacific Bell and Nevada Bell, into a single, unified brand by 2002.  Global Services Inc. To Deliver Broad Range of Telecommunications Services to

Federal Agencies

The U.S. General Services Administration's Federal Technology Service (FTS) today awarded a contract modification to SBC Global Services Inc., allowing it to compete for the first time for the long distance services of federal government agencies across the nation.

As part of the GSA's FTS2001 Crossover Modification, SBC Global Services Inc. is now permitted to compete with a select group of other providers to offer long distance voice and data services to federal agencies; authorized federal contractors; agency-sponsored universities and laboratories; and state, local and tribal governments and other organizations on a national basis.

The new modification combines with other existing contracts to enable the SBC family of companies to offer federal agencies a comprehensive array of telecommunications services, including local and long distance voice and data options, as well as network management and other professional services (job) professional services - A department of a supplier providing consultancy and programming manpower for the supplier's products. .

Along with long distance voice and data services, SBC companies will now offer the federal government SBC PremierSERVsm Network Management Services, a set of support solutions that enables SBC companies to manage and monitor a government customer's network to ensure maximum reliability and efficiency. As part of the crossover modification, SBC Global Services Inc. will offer GSA agencies service levels that surpass the government's contract requirements.

"Since 1957, SBC companies have been a source of vital telecommunications products and services for the GSA," said Doug Dangremond, vice president, SBC Federal Solutions. "Now that we are able to offer long distance services - which had been the critical missing piece in our portfolio - we can share our experience and expand the scope of services we are able to deliver to federal customers. This contract modification is a substantial next step for us as we continue our strong relationship with the GSA and compete for the full scope of the government's telecommunications services nationwide."

SBC companies and the GSA have a long-standing business association. In addition to the FTS2001 Crossover Modification, additional contracts held include eight Metropolitan Area Acquisition (MAA MAA

In March 2003, the GSA Connections Contract was awarded to SBC subsidiary SBC DataComm Inc., enabling offers to federal government agencies for premises-based voice, data and networking services. With the new crossover modification, SBC Global Services Inc. can now offer long distance services for a complete and comprehensive range of products and services for federal agencies.

The SBC team will continue to work closely with the GSA in the coming months to successfully implement this new contract modification and its processes and procedures.
