Milone cause a lot of arguing among the Saugus High baseball team. And the Centurions would be happy if it doesn't stop.

``The coaching staff argues all day long over which one's better,'' Saugus coach Casey Burrill said. ``They're both that good.''

Pfau and Milone, two of the region's premier left-handers, give the Centurions plenty of reasons to believe Saugus could contend for its first league title since 1992. What really makes the Centurions believers is that Pfau and Milone are just the tip of a deep staff.

``We would match out pitching staff with anyone's,'' Burrill said. ``We have one of the best pitching staffs in Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, .''

Pfau, a 5-foot-9 senior, is in his third varsity season. He stole the spotlight during the summer, posting a 0.55 ERA. Pfau got a loss in his first start this season, but was praised for the performance that kept Saugus close in the 3-2 game against defending-national-champion Chatsworth.

``The reason why we were in that game is because of his pitching,'' Burrill said. ``Jason Pfau is throwing great.''

Beyond the ace left-handers, the Centurions' staff returns 6-foot-6 senior right-hander Scott Wischnack and junior right-hander Travis Babin. Babin pitched six scoreless innings in Thursday's victory over Hawthorne. Junior right-hander Brandon Marcia is back form injuries that sidelined him the past couple of seasons and is among the other promising pitchers.
