SATURN SPONSORS JULY 4 FIREWORKS AT OAKLAND COLISEUM

OAKLAND, Calif., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Saturn retail facilities in the East Bay -- Saturn of Oakland, Concord, Fremont and Pleasanton -- are the exclusive sponsors of this year's Fourth of July fireworks spectacular following the Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees baseball game at the Oakland Coliseum.
Billed as the "Saturn 4th of July Pyrospectacular," the event is also a special day for Saturn owners in the East Bay. Some 3,000 Saturn owners and their families will celebrate Independence Day at the ballpark as guests of the four local Saturn stores, in a unique Saturn owner appreciation day.
"Baseball and Fourth of July celebrations are truly American traditions," said John Cross, general manager of the four East Bay Saturn stores. "And when you add a great American automobile, you have a winning combination."
A barbecue in the Coliseum Exhibit Hall and musical entertainment by the University of California Golden Bear Marching Band will launch the evening for the 3,000 Saturn owners.
In a special pre-game activity, the local Saturn facilities will donate a Saturn vehicle to Fremont High School in the Oakland Unified School District. The vehicle will provide valuable hands-on experience to students in automotive classes. "It's our way of supporting the local community by investing in educational programs and in the youth of the area," said Cross.
Saturn will also kick off the game with a lucky local Saturn owner and John Michaud, Saturn Financial Secretary UAW Local 1853 and the UAW advisor to the automaker's Sales, Service and Marketing and Finance staffs, tossing out the ceremonial first pitches. "This is really what the `Saturn Difference' is all about, going a step beyond customer satisfaction to exceed customer expectations," said Michaud. "Those first pitches will really be thrown by the 370,000 Saturn owners across the country and the 8,000 Saturn team members who build this great car."
Immediately following the baseball game between the A's and the Yankees, the "Saturn 4th of July Pyrospectacular" will light up the sky.
