SATER to host Report 2004 and "Pinturas Inteligentes" Expo and Conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

REPORT 2004, a major exhibition for the Spanish-speaking coatings industry, is scheduled for September 1-3, 2004 at the Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The three-day event is hosted by SATER, the Sociedad Argentina de Tecnologos en Recubrimientos. It is supported by the FSCT as well as local trade associations and research centers such as Camara de la Industria de la Pintura de la Republica Argentina (CIP), and CIDEPINT, the investigation center from La Plata city.

"Pinturas Inteligentes," the conference portion and main event of REPORT 2004, will be presented in Spanish by speakers from Argentina, the U.S., and other countries within the Americas and Europe.

As keynote speakers for the technical conference, Jamil Baghdachi, of Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, MI, and Dean Webster of North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND, will present three seminars: "Smart Coatings" and "Improving Durability and Performance of Coatings," by Dr. Baghdachi, and "Advanced Polymer Chemistry in the Coatings Industry," by Dr. Webster. These seminars are sponsored by the FSCT. The conference program will also include several highlights for technical personnel as well as those in sales and management.

In addition to the seminars, the conference will also include technical presentations on the advancement of modern technologies available in the market, a seminar on color, and business presentations by various suppliers. A "Paint for Non-Technicals" course covering the basic aspects of paints, inks, and raw materials will be offered for attendees in sales positions. Also, a management-focused presentation on competitiveness in the industry will be offered.

Over 30 raw material and equipment suppliers will cover the 500 sq m international exhibition. Exhibitors such as Hockmeyer, Clariant, Johnson Polymer, Halox, Dow Chemical, CIBA, as well as local representatives from Akzo, Tego, BYK Gardner, Troy, Sud Chemie, and Efka will be present.

REPORT 2004 will open with a cocktail social and will include other activities such as seminars on commercial subjects, institutional reunions, and networking socials.
