PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 30, 1996--Residents of Palo Alto and nearby communities will soon be moving PCs into the living room.

Northern California's "inter-nuts" are going to be shopping, renting multimedia programs and taking advantage of all that virtual reality has to offer through the pioneering efforts of their local cable television company and SATCOM Consultants Incorporated, a telecommunications consulting firm with offices in Palo Alto and Washington D.C.

SATCOM is working with Wave Interactive Network, Inc. (WIN), its partners, and "Cable Co-op" to develop a hybrid computer network offering secure high speed multimedia communications to cable households.

Residents of communities served by the Cable Communication Cooperative of Palo Alto, Inc. (Cable Co-op) will have the opportunity to participate in a demonstration trial of a unique service offering multimedia titles, virtual reality views of their neighborhood, schools and businesses and high speed access to the Internet.

SATCOM is responding to trends reshaping the computer and communications industries as a result of the new Telecommunications Act.
