SAP America Forms New Subsidiary, Delivering on Its Commitment to U.S. Public Sector Organizations.

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 17, 1997--SAP America Inc. today announced the formation of SAP America Public Sector Inc., a new subsidiary with headquarters in Washington, D.C.

SAP's world-class enterprise-information-management software, combined with the company's proven implementation methodology, global experience and the formation of this new subsidiary, demonstrates the commitment of SAP America to the public sector market. SAP America Public Sector -- A Valuable Resource

Robert M. Salvucci, a 30-year veteran of the computer industry, is the subsidiary's new president. Salvucci has been a senior executive with SAP America for more than five years and is well-versed in the solutions SAP R/3 has provided to the private sector. He relishes the opportunity to bring this expertise to the public sector.

"SAP customers in the private sector have long recognized the significant benefits that can result from integrating their information systems," Salvucci said. "Thousands of companies now benefit from R/3 and the more comprehensive view of their businesses it provides. The public sector can now have the solution that has been delivering the same exceptional return on investment -- and on information to the private sector -- freeing up valuable resources to deliver better and more cost-effective programs and services."

The management team supporting Salvucci includes SAP America Public Sector's corporate officers: John K. Greaney Jr., director of the Public Sector Center of Expertise (PSCOE); L. Steve Borchers, director of sales; and Philip Tessieri, secretary. By the end of 1998, the new subsidiary will employ more than 200 people who will handle sales, service and support.

"We are assembling a talented and experienced internal team to support and service public sector organizations, and we expect it to grow in relation to the acceptance of R/3 in the public sector marketplace," Salvucci said.

SAP Public Sector -- Solutions for Government, Education and Nonprofit Organizations

Government, education and nonprofit organizations are finding they need to streamline and improve processes that no longer meet the needs of today's rapidly changing society. These organizations must simultaneously reduce the cost of delivering vital services. SAP is committed to providing agile, integrated, industry-unique solutions that meet these requirements and help ensure the success of public sector organizations. Of the more than 2,000 SAP software developers, more than 70 are dedicated to the unique requirements of the public sector community.

SAP R/3 has been repeatedly selected by public sector organizations based on its proven ability to support the core business and technical requirements of governments, universities and nonprofit organizations with cost-effective commercial-off-the-shelf software that operates in their information technology environment.
