SAP AMERICA AND PRICE WATERHOUSE JOIN FORCES TO CREATE CENTER OF EXPERTISE FOR SOFTWARE DELIVERY AND SUPPORT

        CENTER OF EXPERTISE FOR SOFTWARE DELIVERY AND SUPPORT
    NEW YORK, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Price Waterhouse and SAP America, Inc., a subsidiary of SAP AG, today announced the establishment of a joint service organization called a Center of Expertise (COE) for software consulting and implementation in the United States.  Both firms view the Center as a potential model for similar ventures with other partners.
    "The Center of Expertise combines SAP's ability to support its fully integrated software products with Price Waterhouse's information technology and business process consulting expertise to meet client needs for integrated financial, distribution and manufacturing software, implementation and support," said Paul B. Goodstat, Price Waterhouse partner-in-charge of the Center.
    "Our two organizations, working together within the Center, deliver needed expertise to meet the requirements of U.S. and multinational corporations," said Manfred Heisen, SAP America alliance manager. "The COE extends our commitment to provide customers with the highest possible levels of customer service, industry-specific support and implementation capabilities."
    Through the Center, headquartered in Philadelphia, SAP America and Price Waterhouse have created a common approach and methodology to ensure cost-effective software implementations.  The Center is capable of supporting large numbers of implementations and providing a full range of functional, technical and project management services.
    Addressing client needs in the areas of financial management, cost management, manufacturing and human resources, the Center's services include:
    -- Requirements definition             -- Project management
    -- SAP software fit analysis           -- End-user training
    -- Business process re-engineering     -- User documentation
    -- Implementation consulting
    SAP America and Price Waterhouse have pledged financial and staffing resources to the Center and share management responsibilities.  The Center's management committee and practice leadership are comprised of senior representatives from both firms who have equal responsibilities for executing a business plan, establishing practice direction, directing day-to-day operations and allocating resources.
    Price Waterhouse management representatives are partners Paul B. Goodstat, Frank Roney and Ernest J. Mortensen.  SAP management representatives are Mario Uhl, vice president of SAP International, and Karsten Hauschild, previously a member of the International Consulting Group at SAP AG headquarters, Walldorf, Germany.  SAP's Hauschild and Price Waterhouse's Goodstat will operate as co-chief operating officers of the new Center.
    The Center began operations on Aug. 1, 1991.  It is located at 30 South 17th St., Philadelphia, PA 19103 and its telephone number is 215-575-5000.
