SANavigator 3.5. (Database/Network News & Products).McDATA Corp. have announced the UK launch of SANavigator 3.5, the latest version of its storage network management software. SANavigator 3.5 is claimed to deliver enhanced security, extended asset management, business level views, and improved diagnostics (1) Software routines that test hardware components (memory, keyboard, disks, etc.). Diagnostics are often stored in ROM chips and activated on startup. (2) Error messages in a programmer's source code that refer to statements or syntax that the compiler or assembler , which allows IT professionals to improve control of their SAN infrastructure. SANavigator 3.5 allows IT managers to control the assets, costs, access to data, and risks associated with maintaining a complex, multi vendor and mission critical storage network. The solution increases data security and centralises control of a company's stored data through multi vendor fabric zoning, multi vendor LUN management and role based user access. SANavigator is a key component in McDATA's EONa (Extendable Open Network) Architecture, a platform based solution that enhances the intelligence, design and functionality of the fabric and the storage infrastructure. The added functionality of SANavigator 3.5 enables the following capabilities: * Enhanced security to minimise Verb 1. minimise - represent as less significant or important downplay, understate, minimize inform - impart knowledge of some fact, state or affairs, or event to; "I informed him of his rights" risk to data through multi vendor LUN management and role based access control; * Extended asset management for emerging technologies with support for FC-IP and ISCSI routers used in conjunction conjunction, in astronomy conjunction, in astronomy, alignment of two celestial bodies as seen from the earth. Conjunction of the moon and the planets is often determined by reference to the sun. with fibre channel SANS; * Improved awareness for faster user response times due to expanded network management framework interoperability The capability of two or more hardware devices or two or more software routines to work harmoniously together. For example, in an Ethernet network, display adapters, hubs, switches and routers from different vendors must conform to the Ethernet standard and interoperate with each other. ; * Greater control with a highly customisable user interface; * More intelligent decision making with advanced diagnostics. McDATA's Template (1) A pre-designed document or data file formatted for common purposes such as a fax, invoice or business letter. If the document contains an automated process, such as a word processing macro or spreadsheet formula, then the programming is already written and embedded in the Registers allow Quality of Service issues to be resolved through detailed examination of network traffic. www.mcdata.com |
