SANTISI HONORED AS 'WOMAN OF THE YEAR' BY NATIONAL KIDNEY FOUNDATION OF NEW YORK/NEW JERSEY

Fundraising Dinner Collects Record Donations for Annual Event
NEW YORK, June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Terri Santisi, executive vice president and general manager of EMI Records Group, North America, was honored today as "Woman of the Year" at the National Kidney Foundation of New York/New Jersey's fundraising gala. This year's event, entitled "Someone to Watch Over Me," raised more than a half- million dollars, making it the most successful annual dinner ever held by any National Kidney Foundation affiliate.
Based on the unprecedented success of the fete, the Foundation's New York/New Jersey affiliate has now re-named their annual "Person of the Year" award the "Santisi Award" in memory of her late father, Phil Santisi. Additionally, the dinner will herein be called "Someone to Watch Over Me" in Santisi's honor, and a fellowship has been established in the Santisi family name to award research dollars for the cure and treatment of kidney disease. The Foundation also announced that Santisi would be the chairperson for the 1994 fundraising dinner.
The event hosted more than 500 guests including music industry executives, Wendy and Carnie Wilson of Wilson Phillips and hot new artists Wendy Moten (EMI/ERG) and RIFF (SBK/ERG), who performed to an enthusiastic crowd. Singer Phil Perry (Capitol) also made a surprise appearance and joined Wendy Moten on stage for a soaring duet.
"Terri has offered tremendous support to this organization over the last several years, and we are extremely grateful for her unrelenting commitment to this worthwhile cause," remarked Dr. Ira Greifer, president, National Kidney Foundation, New York/New Jersey. "The music industry as a whole has joined hands with Terri this year, making this the most rewarding event in our history. In kind, we are here to meet the needs of the music community whenever called upon."
"I am filled with gratitude to my many friends and associates who have given so generously to this evening's cause," commented Santisi. "The Kidney Foundation has made great strides forward in understanding and treated the devastating effects of kidney disease -- but there is still a long way to go. The music community should be commended for its support of this worthy cause and for bringing the Foundation one small step closer to its goals."
The National Kidney Foundation of New York/New Jersey is a voluntary non-profit health organization dedicated to the research, treatment and cure of kidney, urologic and hypertensive diseases for more than 40 years. The Foundation receives no government funding and relies solely on the private sector for support of its life- saving programs.
