SANTA CLARITA REP'S CHRISTMAS MUSICAL TO OPEN.Byline: Daily News NEWHALL - The Santa Clarita Repertory Theatre's comedy holiday musical, ``The Butterfingers Angel, Mary & Joseph, Herod Antipater (fl. c.65 B.C.) was founder of the family fortune. He was an Idumaean and gave refuge to Hyrcanus II (see Maccabees), thus gaining a stronghold in Palestine. His son Antipater (d. 43 B.C.) was favored by Julius Caesar, who made him (c.55 B.C.) virtual ruler of all of Palestine. The son of the second Antipater was Herod the Great (d. 4 B.C.), who gave the family its name. The Nut, and the Slaughter of 12 Hit Carols in a Pear Tree'' opens at 8 p.m. Friday with an Opening Night Wine and Cheese Party at 7 p.m. ``The Butterfingers Angel'' will run through Dec. 20 at the Rep, 24266 San Fernando Road, Newhall. ``We feel this hysterical comedy with music is appropriate for ages 12 and above and is rated PG,'' said Craig Duswalt, the rep's producing artistic director. ``There is absolutely no foul language, but there are some very, very minor situations that might not be comfortable for children under 10. And I emphasize 'might.''' ``The Butterfingers Angel'' is written by William Gibson (person) William Gibson - Author of cyberpunk novels such as Neuromancer (1984), Count Zero (1986), Mona Lisa Overdrive, and Virtual Light (1993). Neuromancer, a novel about a computer hacker/criminal "cowboy" of the future helping to free an artificial intelligence from its programmed bounds, won the Hugo and Nebula science fiction awards and is credited as the seminal cyberpunk novel and the origin of the term "cyberspace"., directed by Michael Kosik, with musical direction and all arrangements by William Thomas Jr. The show features 12 Christmas carols and tells the story of Mary and Joseph and the birth of Jesus. An angel comes down from heaven to tell Mary she's going to have a baby, and tells Joseph he must care for Mary. But in this version of the greatest story ever told, nothing goes right for the ``Butterfingers Angel.'' ``The Butterfingers Angel'' stars Chris LoPrete as the Angel, Ally LoPrete as Mary, Bruce Dworkin as the Man in Grey, Jared Vandegrift as Joseph, and Therese McLaughlin as the Tree. Alanna Rose Blair and Amy Haffner play two gossiping women. Paco Vela, Carlos Avila and Canyon Theatre Guild favorite Michael Collins give comedic performances as the three Louts Lout - Lout is a batch text formatting system and an embedded language by Jeffrey H. Kingston Lout features equation formatting, tables, diagrams, rotation and scaling, sorted indexes, bibliographic databases, running headers and odd-even pages and automatic cross-referencing. Vanessa Douglas will accompany the cast on piano. Douglas recently moved to the area from Phoenix and is currently in the graduate program at California State University, Northridge, studying voice. Paco Vela and James W. Sudik from Theatre Arts for Children are designing the set; Kelley C. Kippen, who won an OGEE Award last year for his work in ``Deathtrap,'' is designing lights; Steven ``Nanook'' Burkholder is designing sound; Amy Haffner is designing costumes; and Shawn Mitchell is the stage manager. ``The Butterfingers Angel'' will be presented at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m., as well as at 7 p.m. Dec. 18 and 19. The Rep's state-of-the-art, 81-seat theater on San Fernando Road is part of the revitalization of Old Town Newhall. Ticket prices are $17 for adults 18 and older, $14 for those over 62, and, special for this show only, $10 for those under 18.
