A man identified as Theodore Kilian was killed Saturday evening when he was thrown from his pickup truck on Soledad Canyon Road in Acton.

There was no sign that alcohol was a factor in the crash, Moore said.

But that wasn't true Friday night when a special CHP task force saturated local roads in search of drunk drivers, Moore said.

Twenty-three drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The task force worked the Antelope Valley on Saturday night.

Opening day set for therapy group

SAUGUS - An organization that provides therapy to all age groups and special programs for babies will hold a grand opening ceremony at 5:30 p.m. today at its new facility in Saugus.

S.C.V. Therapies and Baby Steps has invited city and county officials to help celebrate its opening at 26111 Bouquet Canyon Road, Suite G-1.

S.C.V. Therapies, a division of the Antelope Valley Language Movement & Speech Therapy Center, provides speech and occupational therapy and counseling for all ages.

Baby Steps, a state and federally funded program, caters to children with special needs such as those born prematurely or with Down syndrome Down syndrome, congenital disorder characterized by mild to severe mental retardation, slow physical development, and characteristic physical features. Down syndrome affects about 1 in every 730 live births and occurs in all populations equally. , low birth weight, cerebral palsy cerebral palsy (sərē`brəl pôl`zē), disability caused by brain damage before or during birth or in the first years, resulting in a loss of voluntary muscular control and coordination.  or to a mother who abused drugs.
