SANTA CLARITA: BRIEFLY : RUNNER'S OFFICE NEEDS INTERNS TO HELP RUN IT.

SANTA CLARITA - Freshman Assemblyman George Runner, R-Lancaster, was officially presented the keys to his new Santa Clarita office Thursday by Mayor Clyde Smyth.

The office opened this week.

``We're still getting there. We don't have our computers yet, but we're ready to start serving the people,'' said Greg Matranga, Runner's district director.

Runner, who already has one field office in Lancaster, will likely work out of his Santa Clarita base Thursday afternoons, Matranga said. The office is staffed by his field director Linda Johnson and office manager Jackie Bick and college- or high school-age students are being sought as interns. Intern applicants should contact Johnson.

The office is located in the City Hall building, 23920 Valencia Blvd., Suite 245, Santa Clarita, CA 91355. The office phone number is 259-2416.

Mobile-home park's owner to stay in jail

The owner of an Agua Dulce mobile-home park threatened with closure by the state for sewage violations will remain in jail for at least one more week until his probation violation hearing is held March 21.

Rancho Palos Verdes resident Mitchell Salmonson, 63, could face up to four years in prison if the judge determines he violated his probation by failing to appear at a November court date related to violations at the Hacienda Vasquez Mobilehome Park, according to Deputy District Attorney Jeffrey Gootman.

Salmonson was arrested Saturday by the Long Beach Police Department on a no-bail warrant issued in November.
