SANDY CORPORATION WINS SATELLITE BROADCAST AWARD
TROY, Mich., Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Sandy Corporation (AMEX: SDY)

was awarded second place for "Best Direct Broadcast Satellite Production" by Business Communications magazine, a national trade publication specializing in coverage of satellite business television and communication.
Sandy, a Troy-based training, communications and consulting firm, was nominated for programs executed for General Motors Corporation. Sandy is responsible for producing training for GM dealership personnel telecast over the GM Dealer Satellite Network (GM-DSN).
The award was presented at the publication's 10th annual TeleCon Conference Awards Dinner held in November in San Jose, Calif. Described as the "Academy Awards of Teleconferencing," the conference recognized achievements in the fields of teleconferencing, broadcast distance learning and multimedia. It honored both the users and producers of teleconferencing products, services and programming.
GM-DSN provides news, information and training to GM dealerships nationwide, Richard A. Herdegen, director-administration and training at General Motors and head of GM-DSN said, "We are delighted to earn this recognition in the relatively new field of distance learning and training over satellite. We see the value of this new technology to communicate and improve job skills of people working in GM dealerships. We're pleased with Sandy's efforts in designing and producing this award winning series."
The honored program was part of an ongoing training series, the GM University of Automotive Retailing (GM-UAR), produced by Sandy Corporation and broadcast twice weekly over the GM dealer network. This year's award was the second in a row for Sandy at the TeleCon Conference. In 1990, the company received third place recognition for "Best Direct Broadcast Satellite Application as Part of a Private Network," work also performed for GM-DSN.
Distance learning has become a focus of Sandy as part of its continuing efforts to maintain leadership in training and communications using state-of-the-art technologies.
