SAN FERNANDO WELCOMES HYPER CELL DISTRIBUTION PLANT.

Byline: Gregory J. Wilcox Staff Writer

SAN FERNANDO San Fernando, city, Argentina
San Fernando (săn fərnăn`dō), city (1991 pop. 144,761), Buenos Aires prov., E Argentina. It is a district administrative center in the Greater Buenos Aires area.
 - Officials of this Northeast Valley city on Friday celebrated the fact they they've taken a bite, albeit a small one, out of the city of Los Angeles' huge business base.

formed five years ago by David Nazar employs about two dozen workers locally and 2,500 at a Taiwan manufacturing plant.

The move was necessary because sales are mushrooming, doubling nearly every year since the company was formed, said Vice President and Chief Operating Operator Bob Altman.

``It was a perfect match. The Chatsworth building didn't have enough square footage. In San Fernando there is growth potential,'' he said. ``We've really been made to feel at home in San Fernando.''

The company's growth curve has indeed been pretty steep.

``The company started in Woodland Hills then moved to Chatsworth because we tripled in size and we moved here because we tripled our size again,'' he said.

Hyper Cell makes a wide range of products, including batteries, hands- free kits, cases, and ear pieces that are distributed in markets worldwide.

``We like to say we make everything for the phone but the phone,'' Altman said.

Sales have been doubling on an annual basis and he said that trend should continue this year.

, economic development manager for the city of San Fernando, said that any number of new jobs in the city, no matter how small, is a big deal.

``It's very important to us. This is a very good company so I think they will be an asset to the community in the future and bring even more employment to our city,'' she said.
