SAN FERNANDO TAKES ITS LUMPS : WESTCHESTER 34, SAN FERNANDO 0.Byline: Jorge Martin Special to the Daily News Sometimes in life there are milestones that have the same dubious distinction as turning 30 years old. Reaching them is inevitable, but that doesn't make them any easier to swallow. Such was the case with San Fernando San Fernando, city, ArgentinaSan Fernando (săn fərnăn`dō), city (1991 pop. 144,761), Buenos Aires prov., E Argentina. It is a district administrative center in the Greater Buenos Aires area. The city was established in 1806 to replace the port of Las Conchas, which had been destroyed by a storm.'s 34-0 loss at the hands of Westchester in a non-league game Friday night at San Fernando High School. The drubbing marked the first time that the Tigers (1-1) were shut out since the third game of 1989 against St. Paul. The streak spanned 75 games and did little to make San Fernando head coach Sean Blunt feel like performing cartwheels. ``I'm the coach and a San Fernando alumni. (The shutout) doesn't make me feel too good,'' Blunt said. The Tigers had a multitude of problems getting anything started on offense, not getting a first down until there were less than three minutes left in the first quarter and were already trailing Westchester (2-0) 6-0. Quarterback Terrell Stanley broke off runs of 16 and 18 yards on the drive that saw San Fernando get all the way to Westchester's 25. A five-yard run by Mike Gomez and three consecutive runs by Stanley (two for losses) relegated the Tigers to giving the ball up on downs. That turned out to be the closest San Fernando came to scoring. The Comets took full advantage of the great field position afforded to them throughout the game and did much with very few plays. Quarterback Brenan Cooke completed just three passes in the first half, but two of them were for scores. The first was a 24-yarder to Darryl Taylor where Cooke rolled to the San Fernando sideline with two defenders in his face and fired across his body to connect with his target just under halfway through the first quarter. The second was a 27-yarder where Eugene Child made a leaping catch at the 5 and ran across the field before cutting back for the final steps into the end zone to put the Comets up 14-0 with 4:30 left in the first half.
