 SAMSUNG IN KOREA ORDERS AND INSTALLS CRAY RESEARCH SUPERCOMPUTER
 Is First Cray Research System for Korean Electronics Manufacturer
 EAGAN, Minn., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Samsung Electronics Company of Chung-Ku, Seoul, Korea, has ordered and installed its first Cray Research supercomputer, a CRAY Y-MP 4E system. The new system was installed this quarter at the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Yongin-Gun, Kyongki-Do.
 SAIT conducts advanced research work in circuitry design, structural analysis, injection molding, thermal analysis, fluid dynamics, and chemistry, as well as other scientific areas associated with electronics manufacturing.
 As part of this order, Samsung has licensed two unique Cray Research software products: Unichem, and Multipurpose Graphics System (MPGS). UniChem
is an interactive software environment for chemistry applications. MPGS is a post-processing and visualization software tool for engineering problems.
 "We selected the CRAY Y-MP 4E system because of Cray Research's excellent reputation with other Korean organizations," said Hong-Kyun Park, general manager of SAIT's Supercomputer Center. "In addition, we went with Cray Research because of its ability to provide a variety of application software products."
 The institute's CRAY Y-MP 4E supercomputer will be linked through an FDDI local area network to workstations and other computing resources throughout the Samsung organization. The FDDI network transfers data at 100 megabits per second, making the supercomputer quickly accessible to Samsung researchers.
