SAIC WINS MAJOR U.S. AIR FORCE CONTRACT

 LOS ANGELES, March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) has been awarded the U.S. Air Force's Engineering, Analysis, Design and Development Program contract.
 The award-fee type contract is for $25 million over an initial two-year period. If all options are exercised, the eight-year total value could exceed $100 million.
 SAIC and its subcontractors will support the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) Program Executive Office (Space), through the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center.
 The contract's broad statement of work is designed to provide support to eight areas: Integrated Product Development/Testbed; System Integration and Test; Analysis & Simulation; System Engineering; Cost and Developmental Engineering; Experiment Design and Data Analysis; Integrated Logistics; and Program Scheduling, Assessment and Decision Support. Work will include studies, hardware and software design, and development of strategic and tactical defense systems.
 Work will be performed at Torrance, Calif. and San Diego, and Boulder and Colorado Springs, Colo., under the SAIC Space and Defense Group managed by Dorian De Maio. The program manager is Pete Skinner, and deputy program manager is Michael Proudfoot. Principal subcontractors on the program are General Research Corp., IBM and Logicon.
