SAIC TEAM AWARDED NASA ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES SUPPORT SERVICES CONTRACT.


A team led by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC SAIC - http://saic.com. ) has been awarded a contract from NASA NASA: see National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

 Langley Research Center Langley Research Center (LaRC) Oldest of NASA's field centers, LaRC is located in Hampton, Virginia and directly borders Poquoson, Virginia and Langley Air Force Base. LaRC focuses primarily on aeronautical research, though the Lunar Lander was flight-tested at this facility and a  (LaRC) to provide atmospheric science research and technology support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services  to LaRC's Atmospheric Sciences Competency (AtSC).

This cost-plus-award-fee contract, potentially valued at more than $150 million, will support a staff of nearly 300 in Hampton, Va. The contract will be performed over a period of five years.

Support services on the contract include development of software systems for processing atmospheric science data from remote sensing Deriving digital models of an area on the earth. The work involves the processing, archiving, and distribution of earth science data from the Atmospheric Sciences Data Center, one of several distributed active archive centers NASA sponsors as part of the Earth Observing System The Earth Observing System (EOS) is a program of NASA comprising a series of artificial satellite missions and scientific instruments in Earth orbit designed for long-term global observations of the land surface, biosphere, atmosphere, and oceans of the Earth.  Data and Information System. Other duties include the development and maintenance of NASA-sponsored Web sites, atmospheric modeling, algorithm development, analysis of scientific data sets, logistical support to international field missions, and the development of new remote sensing technologies.

The SAIC winning team is comprised of veteran-owned small businesses, small disadvantaged and women-owned businesses across the country. Members of the team include Analytical Services & Materials, Inc., located in Hampton, Va.; G and A Technical Software, located in Newport News, Va.; Science and Technology Corporation, located in Hampton, Va.; EngiCom, Inc., located in Forestville, Md.; Tri Star Engineering, Inc., located in Bedford, Ind.; and VRCO, Inc., located in Virginia Beach, Va.
