 SAIC LANDS NASA INFORMATION SYSTEMS SUBCONTRACT
 OAKRIDGE, Tenn., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- SAIC is part of the


Grumman Corp. team that has been awarded a NASA Johnson Space Center Information Systems contract (ISC) valued in excess of $300 million. The Grumman team will integrate services currently being performed under seven contracts for non-mission-related data processing, networking and telecommunications at Johnson Space Center.
 This work includes installing, maintaining and operating mainframe computers, institutional and local area networks, minicomputers, workstations, PCs and terminals, as well as developing and maintaining software. The team will also support development and maintenance of many current administrative, payroll, management, human resources and business operations systems now in use at JSC.
 SAIC will have responsibility for applications development and information resources management (IRM) as a subcontractor to Grumman Technical Services, a division of the Grumman Data System & Services Group. "The SAIC role involves strategic information planning, IRM policy development and system architecture definition," said SAIC Program Manager Susan Pernia.
 "SAIC will analyze the systems in existence and develop strategic plans for evolving institutional hardware and software capabilities. We will use innovative software engineering methods and tools to accomplish our applications development and maintenance responsibilities," added Pernia
 The SAIC portion of the contract reports to SAIC's Oakridge- based Information Systems and Technology Analysis (ISTA) group. The work will be performed at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, and 60 to 70 SAIC employees will be hired by the Clear Lake, Texas office to support ISC.
 ISTA Group Manager Larry Peck characterized the win as a "great effort between Grumman, Boeing, SAIC and I-Net. We are looking forward to continuing this team effort in support of JSC," he added.
