SAHARA RESORTS WINS GOVERNOR'S AWARD

 SAHARA RESORTS WINS GOVERNOR'S AWARD
 LAS VEGAS, Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Three Sahara Resort's

properties have been selected to receive a Governor's Tourism Development Award for 1991.
The Sahara, the Hacienda Resort Hotel and casino, and the Santa Fe Hotel and Casino are the recipients of the honor, which was announced by Nevada Governor Bob Miller.
"This distinction was decided based upon (Sahara Resort's) investment in capital improvement, and the subsequent creation of new positions which directly benefit Nevada's lifeblood tourism industry," said Governor Miller.
Sahara Resorts recently completed a major construction and expansion period, which added approximately 1,200 rooms and 1,500 jobs in Las Vegas. Improvements made by the company include the Sahara's new 27-story guest tower and a six-story parking garage, the Hacienda's new 400-room tower, and the Santa Fe, which opened this year on Valentine's Day.
The Santa Fe, located in the rapidly expanding northwest section of Las Vegas, has 200 rooms, a 50,000 square-foot casino, a high-tech 60-lane bowling center, and the only stadium-sized ice arena in Southern Nevada.
"We're very proud of this award, because we've worked very hard to update and improve our existing properties," said Sahara Resorts Chairman Paul Lowden. "And with the addition of the Santa Fe, we've also created a unique, family entertainment center, as well as a new hotel and casino."
Sahara Resorts also owns and operates the Pioneer Hotel and Gambling Hall in Laughlin, Nev.
