SADC free trade programme needs a prod. (Trade).The transformation of the Southern African Development Community The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is an inter-governmental organization. It furthers socio-economic cooperation and integration as well as political and security cooperation among 15 southern African countries. It complements the role of the African Union. SADC's chief executive, Prega Ramsamy, says "the time frame should be revisited in light of what is happening in Africa and the world at large." What bothers Ramsamy is that the United States is talking about a free trade agreement with the SA Customs Union customs union Trade agreement by which a group of countries charges a common set of tariffs to the rest of the world while allowing free trade among themselves.
