SABERHAGEN HIRED TO COACH CALABASAS.

Former major-league pitcher Bret Saberhagen
    Bret William Saberhagen (born April 11, 1964 in Chicago Heights, Illinois) is a former Major League Baseball right-handed starting pitcher. His nickname was 'Sabes.' Career
     has been hired to take over as coach of the Calabasas High baseball team after this season.

    The Coyotes plan to make an official announcement today.

     coach Rick Nathanson, who plans to remain involved with the program while being able to devote more time to his job as a teacher.

    Saberhagen, a Cleveland High of Reseda graduate who won two Cy Young Awards and a World Series championship during his 16-year major-league career, has worked with Calabasas pitchers since retiring in 2002.

    He officially joined the Coyotes' staff last season as an assistant coach for the team on which his oldest son, Drew, is a Pepperdine-bound pitcher/first baseman.

    Nathanson has been Calabasas' coach since 1992 when he was co-coach with current Newbury Park coach Scott Drootin.
