SAB/Interbrew alliance may be in the works.

According to reports in the South African media, Belgium's Interbrew is seeking to acquire a large stake in South African Breweries, the world's fourth-largest brewer.

Beverage analysts have posited that there could be a "paper marriage" between the two companies, that would allow SAB to take control of Bass. This would make SAB number two brewer in Britain, and could help Interbrew solve its Bass problem in the UK, after its acquisition was quashed by British regulators. SAB was said to be one of the suitors in the original Bass deal. On the other side of the the coin, SAB would give Interbrew access to emerging markets in China and in growing eastern and central European markets.
