S.L Green completes 6 Times Square renovation.

As part of its continuing commitment to "restoring the glory" to New York City's landmark buildings, S.L. Green Realty Corp. has completed a multi-million dollar renovation of 6 Times Square, situated on the southeast corner of 42nd Street and Broadway. The completion of this three-year renovation project was marked by the recent removal of approximately 48,000 square feet of scaffolding and a sidewalk bridge.

According to Gerard Nocera, Executive Vice President and Director of Real Estate at SL Green, major improvements to the property include the restoration of the original beaux-arts facade of red brick accented by Indiana limestone and terra cotta trim, restoration of the building's roof tiles, a spectacular new marble lobby with a soaring barrel vaulted ceiling mirroring the original design of the Kinckerbocker Hotel, five new automatic passenger elevator cabs, refurbished corridors and newly created bathrooms, upgraded electric service, and a new central air conditioning system.

"We're committed to restoring New York's historic office buildings to their former grandeur, while providing modern enhancements and amenities for our tenants," said Nocera. "Throughout its history, Six Times Square has always been an outstanding property. The building has emerged from our renovations as a vibrant example of Beaux-Arts architecture with state-of-the-art facilities."

Six Times houses prestigious tenants such as Kellwood Company, a leading textile manufacturer; Thrupoint, Inc., a provider of technology consulting services; law firm Calabro & Fleishell, apparel marketer and manufacturer Jones Apparel Group; and retailers Quicksilver, Inc. and The Gap.
