S&T BANCORP RANKED SECOND IN UNITED STATES BANKER SURVEY
INDIANA, Pa., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- S&T Bancorp (NASDAQ-NMS: STBA), headquartered in Indiana, has been recognized by a national financial publication as one of the best banks among the nation's second hundred largest banking companies, it was announced today.
United States Banker listed S&T Bancorp as the second highest rated bank in its annual survey published in its August 1992, issue.
The listing was comprised of 100 financial institutions ranging in size from just under $1 billion to $3.7 billion in assets. The ranking is based on the strength of the bank's balance sheet, profitability and loan quality as of March 31, 1992. Two-thirds of the scoring reflects balance sheet strength and the remaining one-third reflects profitability.
Robert D. Duggan, president and chief executive officer of S&T, attributes this recognition to strong asset quality and a commitment to the basic principles of sound community banking. "We are pleased with the prudent business measures that our lending and operations staffs have implemented. These measures have provided the framework that has enabled S&T to achieve record earnings in 1991 and during the first half of 1992."
In addition to the United States Banker rating, S&T Bank, the principle subsidiary of S&T Bancorp, was recently recognized by Pittsburgh Business Times as the seventh largest bank in western Pennsylvania in its July 19, 1992, issue. S&T previously was ranked 18th.
S&T Bank operates 33 branches within Allegheny, Armstrong, Clearfield, Indiana, Jefferson and Westmoreland counties. With assets in excess of $1 billion, S&T Bancorp trades its stock on the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol STBA.
