In 1996, Equity Office began sponsoring its 5-K corporate challenge for the youth club, which encourages area children to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring individuals. Nearly 1,000 youths benefit from the organization's after school program, Summer Fun Camp, and other activities that are offered throughout the year, including academic and recreational activities such as homework assistance, tutoring and team sports and special events, such as the club's recent ping-pong tournament. The Stamford club is in its 79th year.

"All proceeds are used to support the much needed recreational and educational activities that the organization provides to the young men and women of the Stamford community," said Margaret Carlson Margaret Carlson is an American journalist and a columnist for Bloomberg News.

She is best known for being the first woman columnist at TIME magazine. Carlson joined Time in January 1988 from The New Republic
, managing director, for Equity Office's Stamford portfolio. "For this year's race, we have already raised more than $100,000. Since we started our sponsorship a decade ago, Equity Office has helped raise more than $500,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford, and has increased awareness of the organization among local businesses and the community."
