Rule Change. Alaska exporters no longer are required to file a Shipper's Export Declaration Shipper's Export Declaration (SED)

Document required by the U.S. Department of Commerce for exports of certain controlled items, and/or shipments to certain countries, and/or shipments anywhere that exceed certain dollar amounts.
 for qualified shipments of $2,500 or less, a modification of the previous exemption, which was limited to shipments of $1,500 or less. Qualification hinges on these conditions: Merchandise is exportable under a general license, and the destination country must be considered a free world' in official regulations. The U.S. Department of Commerce requires specific labeling on the bill of lading A document signed by a carrier (a transporter of goods) or the carrier's representative and issued to a consignor (the shipper of goods) that evidences the receipt of goods for shipment to a specified designation and person. , air waybill air waybill air nLuftfrachtbrief m  or other carrier loading documents. Also, certain shipments are not eligible for the exemption.
