Rugged Computers Come with Windows. (Tech Talk).


A new rugged, wireless portable computer, equipped with a Windows-CE operating system operating system (OS)

Software that controls the operation of a computer, directs the input and output of data, keeps track of files, and controls the processing of computer programs.
 recently was unveiled by LXE LXE Lightguide Express Entry (AT&T)  Inc., based in Norcross, Ga. The MX3-CE has enhanced power-management features, communications and configuration flexibility for a broad range of mobile computing Using a computing device while in transit. Mobile computing implies wireless transmission, but wireless transmission does not necessarily imply mobile computing. Fixed wireless applications use satellites, radio systems and lasers to transmit between permanent objects such as buildings  applications, said LXE spokeswoman June Payne. Features include a touch-screen interface, a half-VGA screen (640 x 240 pixels See pixel. ) and compatibility with vehicle-mounted cradles attached to forklifts or other industrial-type vehicles.

LXE also produces the VX4 rugged, vehicle-mounted wireless computer, designed specifically for use on forklifts, trucks, and other types of industrial vehicles. The VX4 supports Windows 98 and 2000, has a touch screen interface and a 10GB internal hard drive.

The VX4 also can be used as a fixed-station computer that can be wall-mounted for cross-docking applications.
