Rugby: Qera fast off mark for Bees.

Pertemps Bees have signed Fijian international back-row forward Akapusi Qera who made his debut in the 34-7 victory over Black-heath at Portway last Saturday.

Qera has won five senior international caps for Fiji, the most recent being against Japan last month, and has played international sevens.

Qera scored a long-range try in the second half against Blackheath and will be in the squad for Saturday's friendly against Bridgend at Portway or Sharmans Cross Road, depending on pitch conditions. A decision will be made tomorrow.

Qera is Bees' 15th signing following former Worcester and Exeter lock/back-row forward Mark Gabey, former Wales Under-21 centre Tristan Dav-ies and winger Matt Nuthall, who have been recruited from Cardiff Blues, new captain and lock Mark Cornwell from Gloucester, fly-half Jon Higgins from Coventry, Canadian international prop Casey Dunning, hooker Stewart Pearl from Plymouth Albion, scrum-halves Mike Baxter (Bath) and Reece Spee (Ulster) and Gloucester loan signings Terry Sigley, Jon Goodridge, Brad Davies, Dean Miller and Dan Tuohy.
