Rubber Division seeks nominations.

The Rubber Division, American Chemical Society The American Chemical Society (ACS) is a learned society (professional association) based in the United States that supports scientific inquiry in the field of chemistry. Founded in 1876 at New York University, the ACS currently has over 160,000 members at all degree-levels and in , is accepting nominations for the following six Science and Technology Awards for 2005: The Charles Goodyear Medal (sponsored by the Rubber Division), the Sparks-Thomas Award (sponsored by ExxonMobil Chemical), the Melvin Mooney Melvin Mooney (1893-1968) was an American physicist.

He developed the Mooney Viscometer and other testing equipment used in the rubber industry. He also proposed the Mooney-Rivlin solid constitutive law describing the hyperelastic stress-strain behavior of rubber.
Distinguished Technology Award (sponsored by Crompton/Uniroyal Chemical), the George Stafford Whithy Award for Distinguished Teaching and Research (sponsored by Cabot), the Fernley H. Banbury Award (sponsored by Farrel) and the Chemistry of Thermoplastic Elastomers Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), sometimes referred to as thermoplastic rubbers, are a class of copolymers or a physical mix of polymers (usually a plastic and a rubber) which consist of materials with both thermoplastic and elastomeric properties.  Award (sponsored by Advanced Elastomer elastomer (ĭlăs`təmər), substance having to some extent the elastic properties of natural rubber. The term is sometimes used technically to distinguish synthetic rubbers and rubberlike plastics from natural rubber.  Systems).

These awards recognize specific distinguished achievements of rubber scientists, engineers, chemists and technologists worldwide. Many honors are received with the various awards, such as monetary honorariums, engraved en·grave
