Rubber Division, ACS offers scholarships.


The Rubber Division of the American American, river, 30 mi (48 km) long, rising in N central Calif. in the Sierra Nevada and flowing SW into the Sacramento River at Sacramento. The discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill (see Sutter, John Augustus) along the river in 1848 led to the California gold rush of  Chemicals Society is offering three $5,000 undergraduate scholarships to students entering their junior or senior year of study for the fall 2007 through spring 2008 academic year.

Applicants may have a major area of study in chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, polymer science Polymer science or macromolecular science is the subfield of materials science concerned with polymers, primarily synthetic polymers such as plastics. The field of polymer science includes researchers in multiple disciplines including chemistry, physics, and engineering.  or other technical discipline of relevance to the rubber industry. The Rubber Division is also offering two $1,250 Rubber Technology Training Awards to technicians and production personnel who work in the rubber industry.

Applicants must have a nomination NOMINATION, This word has several significations. 1. An appointment; as, I nominate A B, executor of this my last will. 2. A proposition; the word nominate is used in this sense in the constitution of the United States, art. 2, s.  letter from a Rubber Group submitted on their behalf in addition to their application. The application deadline for both the Rubber Division scholarships and awards is March 1.
