This laboratory utilizes a number of methods to separate and determine the exact content of the various components of rubbers and resins. These methods include pyrolysis and FT-IR spectral analysis for polymer identification, quantitative extraction for additives content, quantitative ashing for filler content, microanalysis for fiber content and thermal scan (DSC) for curing analysis. Other methods can involve separation of extracted materials by liquid (HPLC) or gas chromatography for their identification and quantitation.
