Royally gay in Luxembourg.


While the U.K. parliament was debating a bill that would give same-sex couples many of the rights of marriage, James Clark James Clark - Dr. James H. Clark  and his partner, Anthony Stewart Anthony Stewart (born January 5, 1985 in LaSalle, Quebec, Canada) is a professional ice hockey player. He is 6'1", 225 lbs, shoots right and plays Right Wing for the Florida Panthers of the NHL. , were making history on their own. On March 30 they became the first officially recognized gay couple to have an audience with the queen.

As the United Kingdom's new ambassador to Luxembourg, Clark was allowed to register under a new Foreign Office domestic-partnership policy, allowing Stewart to be received at Buckingham Palace along with the spouses of other new ambassadors. A Foreign Office spokesman told The DailyTelegraph, "We reminded the palace two weeks ago about our new rules, and they responded straightaway straight·a·way

Clark is not the first openly gay emissary EMISSARY. One who is sent from one power or government into another nation for the purpose of spreading false rumors and to cause alarm. He differs from a spy. (q.v.)  to go to Luxembourg. In 1999 philanthropist James Hormel went to the small European nation as the first openly gay U.S. ambassador.
