Royal Mail US Inc. Names President.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 8, 1999--Royal Mail US Inc., a subsidiary of the British Post Office, today announced the appointment of David Walker as president, effective February 11.

"My objective is to establish Royal Mail US Inc. as a major competitive force in international bulk mail delivery in the United States," said Walker. "We want US business leaders to understand that Royal Mail offers global expertise and a higher level of customer service they can't get from any other bulk mail carrier - foreign or domestic."

Walker will oversee Royal Mail's National Sales & Service Center in New York, 10 regional sales offices coast-to-coast, and its regional operational facilities.

"David comes to Royal Mail US Inc. with a wealth of international business know-how, " said John Dunlop, Director and General Manager of Royal Mail International, the global division of the British Post Office that includes Royal Mail US Inc.

Meanwhile, Chris Powell, outgoing president of Royal Mail US Inc., will take up a position in Global Sales Development for Royal Mail International in London. Powell guided Royal Mail from its North American market entry in 1994 to being one of the top four providers of international bulk mail services in the United States.

Walker joins Royal Mail US Inc from Post Office Counters Ltd., the retail arm of the British Post Office, where he was Director of its Branded Markets Business Centre, which generated annual revenues of $650 million in fiscal 1997-98.

Before joining Post Office Counters Ltd., Walker was a Marketing Director with British Rail, the national railroad in the United Kingdom, where he oversaw a radical re-shaping of its marketing strategy in preparation for privatization -- a key issue facing postal authorities today.

Walker has also held a number of senior management positions with British Airways, including the lead role in developing BA's strategy for their Middle East, Far East and Pacific operations, and for the development of strategic alliances with other leading airlines.
