Royal Group Receives Large Scale Orders for Building System in China.

:RYG) announced today that it has received and is presently processing orders for the supply of components of The Royal Building System(TM) for various industrial and commercial buildings to be constructed in China.

The orders involve 16 industrial plants and 3 office buildings to be constructed in a new industrial park located in the Song Jiang District of Shanghai, as well as 200 wireless telephone telecommunication shelters to be supplied to China Unicom China Unicom, full name China United Telecommunications Corporation, 中国联通, HKSE: 0762 NYSE: CHU, is a telecommunication operator in the People's Republic of China. 52.  for two northern provinces. The orders are valued in excess of $C11 million, including charges related to supervision of installation.

Major components for the orders are being manufactured at Shanghai Royal Building Systems Limited, a subsidiary of Royal Group Technologies Limited located in the city of Shanghai, China. Shipping of components for all orders is expected to be completed by December 2000. Shanghai Royal's entire manufacturing capacity will be utilized until calendar year end to satisfy these orders as well as pre-existing orders for its products in China.

Qian Zhichum, Director of the Song Jiang Industrial Zone Administrative Committee, the authority contracting the construction of the industrial park, commented that The Royal Building System(TM) was selected for the projects "because it enables construction of durable structures in less time than with conventional methods".

Vic De Zen, Chairman, President and C.E.O. of Royal Group, commented on the Chinese market's reception to the System in saying, "there is a growing awareness that the System enables rapid development in the fast paced Chinese economy". He noted that "proposals for similar industrial parks utilizing the System are under consideration in other districts of China".
