The Spring and Summer 2003 issues of African Arts African arts

Visual, performing, and literary arts of sub-Saharan Africa. What gives art in Africa its special character is the generally small scale of most of its traditional societies, in which one finds a bewildering variety of styles.
 will be a tribute to the African-art historian Roy Roy, city (1990 pop. 24,603), Weber co., N Utah, near Great Salt Lake; settled by Mormons 1877, inc. 1937. Computer equipment is manufactured, and many residents work at nearby Hill Air Force Base.  Sieber, who died last September September: see month. . Christine Mullen Kreamer will serve as guest editor.
