RoweCom Appoints Vice President of Strategic Initiatives.

Additional Hires, Including New Director of Publisher Relations and

Doubling of Sales Force, to Support Company's Growth

), the leading provider of business-to-business solutions for managing the acquisition of knowledge resources, today announced the appointment of Judy Schott to the newly created position of vice president, strategic initiatives.

Ms. Schott assumes the role immediately and will spearhead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives across sales, marketing, business development and operations. Ms. Schott joins RoweCom from Blackwell's Information Services See Information Systems. , Inc., a $400 million international company specializing in library book supply and electronic information provision, where she was named vice president and general manager in 1997 and was hired as vice president of sales and marketing in 1996. In addition to overseeing sales, marketing, and information technology, her accomplishments at Blackwell's include reaching a customer retention rate of 95 percent and improving the efficiency of customer service operations by 30 percent.

From 1993 to 1996, Ms. Schott was vice president of marketing and development at Readmore, Inc., a $120 million information services company. She served as director of microcomputer information services there from 1987 to 1993.
