Nathan Auerbach, a 26-year-old South Orange County resident, will begin his 2,200-mile trek in Tijuana, Mexico, on May 1 and walk 25 miles per day reaching Vancouver, Canada, by Aug. 16. He will visit 100 Rotary clubs during the course of 100 days, in celebration of Rotary International's 100th year of service. The theme for the journey is "We're Walking Because They Can't." "We are honored that such a motivated and dedicated young man has chosen to support Rotary's PolioPlus initiative through our club." Since PolioPlus was established in 1985, Rotary members have immunized more than two billion children in 22 countries, and contributed more than $500 million towards a polio-free world. Through PolioPlus, Rotary leads private-sector participation in the global effort to eradicate polio by the end of 2005.
