Rosemary Witt District #3.

. She received her baccalaureate degree in nursing from the University of Iowa Not to be confused with Iowa State University.
The first faculty offered instruction at the University in March 1855 to students in the Old Mechanics Building, situated where Seashore Hall is now. In September 1855, the student body numbered 124, of which, 41 were women.
 and her master's in psychiatric nursing from University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Witt completed a Ph.D. in Nursing at the University of Texas, with an emphasis in administration.

Dr. Witt served as the Chairperson of the Department of Nursing between 1973 and 2003, then as Interim Director of School of Nursing from 2003-2004, and as the Senior Academic Coordinator for the School, from 2004-2006. Dr. Witt stepped out of an administrative role and returned to a teaching role. She now teaches undergraduate management courses and supervises psychiatric nursing clinicals. Dr. Witt's publications have been in the area of psychiatric nursing and nursing education.

Dr. Witt has held various leadership roles in the nursing community of Southern Nevada. She was cofounder co·found

 of Zeta Kappa Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International exists to improve the health of people by increasing the scientific base of nursing research. It is the second-largest nursing organization in the world with approximately 125,000 active members.  and served as the first President of that organization. She served on the Nevada State Board of Nursing for seven years, in the role of President of Board for 5 years. She has held several state offices in the Nevada Nurses Association. Currently, Dr. Witt is a council member of HealthInsight of Nevada and recently served as chair of the education committee of the Southern Nevada Medical Coalition.
