Rosboro Lumber Co. announces layoffs in Springfield, Veneta

Rosboro Lumber Co. has laid off 18 employees at its Springfield plant and 24 from its mill on Vaughn Road in Veneta because of "very difficult market conditions," a spokesman said Monday.

"It's a very difficult market for pretty much everyone in the finished market industry," Chief Financial Officer Scott Nelson said.

Company officials are hopeful they can hire some or all the employees back when market conditions improve, Nelson said.

Rosboro employs about 500 workers at seven plants.?
