(Already completed is the enlargement and refurbishment of the hotel's 305 rooms.) The Roosevelt, of course, hosted the first ever Academy Awards, and it sits across the street from the event's new home, the Kodak Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland entertainment/retail complex. During its heyday in the 1930's, the hotel operated a swank nightclub called Cinegrill that became a hangout for F. Scott Fitzgerald Noun 1. F. Scott Fitzgerald - United States author whose novels characterized the Jazz Age in the United States (1896-1940) Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, Fitzgerald , Ernest Hemingway and Salvador Dali, who was designing movie sets at the time. To get a sense of Hollywood in those days, stroll through sunken Spanish-style lobby and ask the staff to point out where Charlie Chaplin and Winston Churchill bumped into each other on the way to refilling their ice buckets. The club has been refurbished into a 140-seat tiered cabaret and screening room that will be the home of singer-songwriter Michael Feinstein. Hence its name: Feinstein's at the Cinegrill. |
