During his term as president of AFMA, Wanek will guide and direct the organization that represents more than 350 of the industry's leading furniture manufacturers who provide jobs for a total of 150,000 employees and produce over 75 % of the shipments of U.S. furniture.

Ashley Furniture Industries, headquartered in Arcadia, Wisc., is the fifth largest furniture manufacturer in the U.S. with over $600 million in annual sales.

In addition to his new responsibilities with AFMA, Wanek recently was presented the "Spirit of Life" award by the Home Furnishings Industry Chapter of City of Hope, a leader in research and treatment of cancer and genetic diseases.

Wanek received the organization's highest honor at a gala during the International Home Furnishings Market here last month, for his significant contributions to the furniture industry, his community and humanitarian efforts.
