:PMI See Private Mortgage Insurance. ) has been elected to Habitat for Humanity Habitat for Humanity, nonprofit ecumenical Christian organization that enables low-income people to own affordable, livable housing. Headquartered in Americus, Ga., it was founded in 1976 by businessman Millard Fuller and his wife.  International's board of directors. Board members typically serve two three year terms.

The Habitat panel elected Haughton during its recent meeting in New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland. . The board oversees the organization's mission of building simple, decent housing in partnership with people in need throughout the world.

For almost 10 years PMI has built, sponsored or contributed to more than 55 Habitat homes worldwide. In 2002, PMI was named a Habitat for Humanity Cornerstone Partner in their "More Than Houses: Rebuilding Our Communities" capital campaign to raise $500 million by 2005. The campaign is dedicated to building 100,000 Habitat houses by the end of 2005. Further, PMI sponsors Habitat for Humanity's Congress Building America and The House the Senate Built program.

He has a long history of volunteerism. In addition to his work with Habitat for Humanity, Haughton is on the board and a former chair of Social Compact, a Washington, D.C. organization dedicated to promoting revitalization of America's inner cities. He is also on the executive committee and board of San Francisco's Bay Area Council and on the board of the National Council of La Raza The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) is the largest Hispanic advocacy organization in the United States. The NCLR was founded in 1968 as a nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing discrimination and poverty and to improving the lives and economic opportunities of , a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing poverty and discrimination as well as improving life opportunities for Hispanic Americans.

Haughton has received various awards recognizing his contributions to community development, including Fannie Mae's first-ever Community Lending Hero Award and the Bay Area Junior Achievement's Spirit of Achievement Award for personal efforts that significantly affect the lives of people within the community. He and his wife, Judy, reside in Alamo, California. They have four children.
